BE

Who I get to be comes up for me a lot. I am confronted by the gap between where I want to be and where I am often as I build my business, as I interact with mentors and colleagues, as well as clients. I am determined and every day I look in the mirror I remember that I get to decide who Angela gets to be. I fall into old Angela often. I forget that it isn’t always about what actions I’m taking but about who is throwing the legs over the bed in the morning. When I am my powerful version of myself, that’s when magic happens.

I am really proud of being an Ironman. I think about who that woman had to be to cross the finish line. It wasn’t just about the 2.4 mile swim, the 112 mile bike ride or the 26.2 mile run. It was about the 12 months before training for it! In some instances we look at our idols and think that that person couldn’t possibly be us. I want to be the Tony Robbins of fitness, but it seems so far away. Those events with 5000 people, changing lives and creating magic. Our idols are people too! They started somewhere. Those people put their pants on one leg at a time just like we do. That means we get to build our empire one day at a time just like them too.

Being our best self really is a muscle that we have to work every day! Staying connected to who we want to be and stepping into that version of ourself is a practice of being a HUMAN BEING and not a HUMAN DOING!

Below is a short meditation to help you create the YOU you want to be.

Sit up or lay down in a comfortable place. Give yourself at least 5 minutes where there is no where you have to be, nothing you have to do. No emails to answer. No distractions. Give yourself permission for these 5 minutes to simply sit still. Let this 5 minutes be a mental vacation. Feel your body and notice the space you are in. Feel gravity making your body heavy and simply relax into the moment. feel every part of you get heavy and relaxed starting at your feet and work your way up till you get to the top of your head. If you feel any space holding on to any tension, simply relax and release into that area.

Notice now your breath. Don’t control it. Just watch it. notice how air enters and leaves your body. See if you can rest in the space between the inhale and the exhale. Let go and simply let everything melt into those moments.

Go now into the future. If it were a perfect world one year from today, what would you look like. where would you be. what would your home look like like. Be in that moment. hold the stuff in your hands. smell the perfume of the space you are in. Allow those moments to fill you completely. Who is the person who can have that life? Who is that version of you? What traits does this person have? If you had to pick one word what would it be?

Bring life and breath back to your body and decide to step into that one word. Write it and share it with your friends, share it us and make it real.
